Never make New Year's resolutions

OK guys and gals, let’s be honest, how many of you have kept New Year’s resolutions?  I’ll wait….. OK so that one guy there in the back says he keeps his resolutions.  I wonder if that means he doesn’t make any.  Or he makes up something simple like "I will eat good (as in delish not healthy) food this year". How much stress do we put on ourselves to lose 20lbs, stop swearing, go to the gym, be nicer to people, dust more often or, keep your shoes organized? Yes, those are things that should be on my resolution list but I don’t have one. As of the past few years I have never added or created a list of things to do for the new year.

I don’t feel like looking up the history of New Year’s resolutions.  I’m sure there is some Wikipedia historical page or some psychic’s website that tells all about the ins and outs of how and why you make New Year’s resolutions. If you feel like sharing the history, drop it in the comment box. I however, challenge you to be appreciative of the year that has past. Just as you should be appreciate every day that passes.  If you are going to make change in your life, make it today.  We all know that tomorrow is not promised (If you don’t know, now you know…). But you take a whole heap of stress off of your plate if you don’t focus on things that you pretty much aren’t going to do.  And if you do pull off a resolution starting on New Year’s day, congratulations.  You and the guy in the back are two of twenty…out of 5 billion.

So, this year, take the time to enjoy the company of friends and family, go to a party, attend a religious services, or do like I do and fall asleep at 10 and wake up to a new year around 8. But don’t stress yourself out by sticking to a list of 5 impossible “resolutions”. Make change today, not tomorrow.
